Obtaining

The main method of obtaining Wool is by either by Shearing or killing Sheep. Wool can also be crafted out of 4 pieces of String, which can be obtained by killing Spiders and shearing Cobwebs. Colored Wool can also be obtained by shearing/killing a Dyed Sheep or combining the Dye with the Wool in a Crafting Table.

After Update 1.0.4, Wool can also be Traded with Emeralds.

Crafting

  • 4 String => 1 Wool
  • 3 Wool + 3 Wooden Planks => 1 Bed
  • 2 Wool => 3 Carpets
  • 1 Wool + 1 Any Dye => 1 Colored Wool

Usage

Wool is mainly used for decoration. This is because it can be dyed a wide variety of colors. Wool can also be used to make Beds and Carpets.

Trivia

  • No matter what color of Wool the Player uses, the color of a Bed will always be red in the default texture pack.
    • This will be changed in Update 1.1, where beds can be dyed.
  • Black Wool can be found in Villages as lamps.
  • Wool is highly flammable.
    • Before Update 0.7.5, Wool was not flammable.
    • However, after Update 0.7.5, this bug was fixed.
  • Upcoming: In Update 1.1, the textures of Wool will be changed.
