TNT is an explosive Block that can destroy Blocks within a small radius when primed. It was added in the Pre-Release of Minecraft Pocket Edition, but it couldn't be used in normal gameplay until Alpha 0.4.0.
Obtaining
TNT is obtained primarily by crafting, but can also be found naturally under Desert Temples.
Crafting
Usage
TNT can be used:
- For clearing a large area of land.
- As an expensive way to kill Mobs.
- It can also be used to kill Silverfish without alerting other Silverfish in the vicinity.
- For resource-finding purposes.
- For setting up traps for Mobs/Players.
- As a propellant and ammunition for a TNT cannon.
Activation
TNT can be activated by:
- Using Flint and Steel
- Shooting it with a Flame Enchanted Bow or an Arrow passing through Lava
- Using a Redstone power source
- Lava or Fire nearby
- Using a Fire Charge
- Dispensing TNT out of a Dispenser.
- Other TNT explosions nearby
- Wither Skulls shot by the Wither
- Tools Enchanted with Fire Aspect
- Creepers exploding nearby
Trivia
- In real life, TNT is a chemical, Trinitrotoluene with the chemical formula C7H5H3O6.
- Primed TNT is an entity, and obeys Gravity.
- TNT explosions are larger than a Creeper's.
- Placing blocks between the explosion and the mob/Player will reduce the damage taken.
- In Creative, TNT could only be ignited using Lava before Update 0.8.0.
- Endermen can pick up TNT, but if it is primed, they will immediately drop it.
- TNT can be lit underwater; however, nearby Blocks will not be destroyed by TNT.
- It will still damage surrounding entities and Players.
- During an early version of Minecraft Pocket Edition, blowing up TNT while it was next to another TNT block would make the game crash.
- Fishing Rods can be used to "catch" and change the direction of Primed TNT.
