Update 0.8.0 |
A Sponge is a Decorative Block introduced in Update 0.8.0.
Obtaining
The Player must go to an Ocean Monument and find a Wet Sponge. Next, the Player must smelt the Wet Sponge in a Furnace, which will then result in a Sponge.
Another way to obtain the Block is to kill an Elder Guardian.
Smelting
- 1 Wet Sponge + Any Fuel => 1 Sponge
Usage
In Update 0.16.0, Sponges received the ability to soak up Water. This is useful for clearing up large Water bodies.
Doing so will turn the Sponge into a Wet Sponge, and will remove its ability to soak water, until the Wet Sponge has been smelted.
Trivia
- The Sponge texture was changed to the PC 1.8 texture in Update 0.16.0.
- Only 3 Elder Guardians spawn per Ocean Monument. Thus, this does not make Sponges renewable.
- Before Update 0.16.0, Sponges had no use, and were only available in the Creative menu.
- No matter what Tools or Enchantments are used, Sponges take the same amount of time to mine.
