Oak planks were the first kind of planks added. As of Update 0.8.0, the player can only get them from Oak Trees. They appear with a medium color, darker than Birch Planks, and Jungle Planks  but lighter than Spruce Planks and Dark Oak Planks.

Crafting

Oak Planks (as any other planks) are used to craft many things:

1. 2 Planks = 4 Sticks
2. 4 Planks = 1 Crafting Table
3. 1 Stick + 2 Planks = 1 Wooden Sword.
4. 2 Sticks + 2 Planks = 1 Wooden Hoe.
5. 2 Sticks + 1 Plank = 1 Wooden Shovel.
6. 2 Sticks + 3 Planks = 1 Pickaxe or Axe. (Depending on the arrangement)
7. 8 Planks = 1 Chest.
8. 6 Planks = 1 Door.
9. 4 Planks = 2 Trapdoor.
10. 3 Planks = 4 Wood Bowls.
11. 2 Planks + 4 Sticks = 2 Fence Gates.
12. 5 Oak Planks + 1 Wooden Shovel = 1 Oak Boat.

Trivia

• Before Update 0.8.0, all logs would yield oak planks when crafted.
• Oak Planks are used in the construction of underground mineshafts.
• As of Update 0.10.0, oak planks are required to craft oak fences and gates.
• As of Update 0.11.0, 5 Oak Planks and a Wooden Shovel are needed to craft Boats.
• Like all wood, it can be uses for fuel in the Furnace.
• Probably the most common wood.
