Ice is a block that spawns naturally in Cold Biomes. It allows the player to walk faster on it, and the player will slide if he/she stops moving. It converts into water if broken and there is a block beneath it.

When broken, it makes the same sound as Glass.

Obtaining

Since the SIlk Touch enchantment is not in the game yet, it is impossible to have ice in the survival inventory without using hacks. Ice can also not regenerate after being mined because there is no weather yet.

Trivia

•  Packed Ice is another variant of Ice. It will not melt and is less transparent, but lighter in colour. 
• Ice will melt if any illuminating block is placed nearby, or if it is placed in a sunny biome.
• It is a translucent block.
• Ice will melt in the Nether but it will not release water.
