Update 0.5.0 |
Glowstone is a decorative Block added in Update 0.5.0.
Obtaining
Glowstone is found in Glowstone Clusters on the underside of Netherrack in the Nether. If broken by hand it will drop 2-4 Glowstone Dust. To get the actual Block, the Player must use a Silk Touch Enchanted Pickaxe, or Craft it. After Update 1.0.4, it can also be Traded for using Emeralds.
Crafting
- 4 Glowstone Dust => 1 Glowstone
- 1 Glowstone + 4 Redstone => 1 Redstone Lamp
Usage
Glowstone emits a light level of 15, and melts Ice and Snow nearby.
Trivia
- Before the name was officially confirmed, Glowstone was also unofficially called lightstone, brimstone, and australium.
- When Glowstone is broken, it has the same sound effect as breaking Glass, Sea Lanterns, and Ice.
- Being a solid block, it can provide light underwater, unlike Torches.
- Glowstone emits the same light level as the Sun, Fire, Lava, Jack O'Lanterns and Redstone Lamps.
- Before Update 0.12.1, Glowstone could only be obtained by the Nether Reactor in the form of Glowstone Dust.
