Swamps, Mushroom Islands, Roofed Forests

First Appearance

Update 0.9.0

Giant Mushrooms are Generated Structures added in Update 0.9.0.

Giant Mushrooms can be found in Mushroom Islands, as well as in Roofed Forests and Swamps. In addition to finding them in the mentioned Biomes, Giant Mushrooms can be grown by the Player using Bone Meal on normal Mushrooms. Note that there must be enough space above the Mushroom for it to be grown into a Giant Mushroom.

Giant Mushrooms can only be grown in dark places, in light level 0-8, unless they are grown on top of Podzol.

There are two types of Giant Mushrooms:

  • Red Giant Mushrooms
  • Brown Giant Mushrooms

The Brown Giant Mushroom is a flat plateau on top of the stem, whilst the Red Giant Mushroom has walls surrounding the stem as well.

A Giant Mushroom has no loot, but are very useful, as they provide Mushrooms which can be used to make Mushroom Stew, which are great sources of Food. Each Mushroom Block on a Giant Mushroom can yield 0-4 Mushrooms of the respective type when mined. They are mined fastest using an Axe.

Red Mushrooms can also be used to make Rose Red Dye in a Furnace. If the Player spawns in a Swamp, Giant Red Mushrooms can be used as a quick shelter for the night.

  • Giant Mushrooms can grow up to 13 Blocks.
  • Bedrock Exclusive: Giant Mushrooms can spawn in Swamp Biomes.
  • Bug: There was a glitch in Update 0.13.0 that caused Giant Mushrooms to not spawn.
  • Rarely, the Giant Mushroom can spawn cut in half.
