Usage
The main use of the Fence is to keep animals trapped in a certain location, and for decorational purposes. It can also be used as a barrier around the Player's home to keep Hostile Mobs away. After Update 0.15.0, the Player is able to attach Leads to fences.
Trivia
- Before Update 0.10.0, only Oak Fences could be crafted.
- However, after Update 0.10.0, all wooden types of Fences were added.
- The Nether Brick Fence wasn't present in the game until it was added through Update 0.12.1, though.
- Creepers will begin their countdown to exploding if the Player is directly opposite to the Fence, as they are technically in the same block.
- Nether Brick Fences are the only type of Fences that aren't made out of wood, and do not have a Fence Gate counterpart.
- Because Spiders have the ability to climb vertically up most objects, Fences do not provide much safety from them.
- Nether Brick Fences will not join with any other kind of fence, thus allowing the player to create gates that only the Player and small mobs can pass through.
- The Nether Brick Fence's texture was brightened after Update 0.14.2.
- Large Magma Cubes can jump over Fences.
- The Player cannot jump over the Fence; however, it is possible to jump over a fence with a Potion of Leaping in effect.
- If the Player runs into a Fence until they cannot move, and then exits and re-enters the world, the Player will be standing on the Fence.
- Fences can be used by the Player to create an Airlock under Water.
- When a Carpet is placed on a Fence, the Fence will act like an ordinary block, thereby allowing the Player to jump onto it. However, Mobs cannot climb onto it until the Carpet is removed.
