First Appearance

Update 1.0

Endermites are Hostile Mobs that were added in Update 1.0.

Spawning[]

Endermites have a 1/20 chance of spawning after the use of an Ender Pearl, and a 1/100 chance when an Enderman teleports.

Behavior[]

Endermites' movement and appearance is almost identical to that of a Silverfish; however, they will not enter Blocks. Endermites will attack Players within 16 blocks of them, and will despawn within 2 minutes, regardless of the Player's distance from the Endermite.

Endermen will attempt to kill Endermites, provided they were spawned from Ender Pearls and there is no nearby Player in Survival Mode. If the Player is close enough to an Endermite, Endermen focus on the Player instead of the Endermite.

Combat[]

Endermites attack the Player by charging at him/her; since they have low Health and have only a melee attack, they can be easily killed by a Sword.

Trivia[]

  • As of Update 1.0.4, the distance for detection has been increased to 16 Blocks from previously being only 8 Blocks.
  • Endermites have the same sounds as Silverfish.
  • Endermites are the smallest mob in Minecraft, along with Silverfish.
  • Endermites' despawning ability can be removed by naming them with a Name Tag.
    • However, they will despawn no matter what if the Difficulty is switched to Peaceful.
