Main Article: Grass Block
When Dirt is placed in a light level of 9 or above, it can turn into a Grass Block if there is a Grass Block directly adjacent to it.
Crafting
2 Gravel + 2 Dirt => 4 Coarse Dirt [After Update 1.2]
Usage
Dirt is mostly used for Farming by tilling it into Farmland using a Hoe. The Player can also use it to make a Grass Path, by letting it become a Grass Block and tapping it with a Shovel. It is also a common building Block which can be used to create cheap, makeshift structures.
Trivia
- There are many blocks that are based around Dirt, including Grass Paths, Coarse Dirt, Mycelium, Podzol, and Tilled Farmland.
- Mycelium can spread onto Dirt Blocks in Mushroom Islands.
- The only way to stop this is to create a barrier of non-Dirt Blocks such as Cobblestone between the Mycelium and the Dirt.
- Dirt is the second most common Block in the game (the first being Stone).
