Trivia
- Stone or Cobblestone can be mined by hand, but it will not yield the resource after being broken.
- It takes about 4 seconds to do so, much longer in duration than with the correct tool.
- Flint and Steel or Shears can be used to break Stone relatively faster than by hand.
- The Player can make a Cobblestone Generator with Water and Lava, making it an infinite resource to obtain Cobblestone in the Overworld.
- This is not possible in The Nether, however, as Water cannot be placed there, and will evaporate instantly.
- When using invert colors, the texture for Cobblestone is reversed so it looks like End Stone. This case is the same with End Stone; inverting its color makes it look like Cobblestone.
- Ghasts can't blow up Cobblestone, making it good protection in the Nether.
- Stone actually mines faster than Cobblestone.
- Cobblestone is one of the oldest blocks in Minecraft.
- It naturally spawns in Dungeons and Jungle Temples along with Moss Stone.
- Before Update 0.12.1, Cobblestone was used to make a player-built structure known as the Nether Reactor.
- Cobblestone was the very first block to be implemented.
